Alyssa Lucero reviews Jeff Cowen
Jeff Cowen an artist out of Berlin works exclusively with black and white film to produce larger than life murals. He manipulates his photos with hand toning, which with the brush strokes he uses can make the photograph appear more like a painting. He also incorporates painting, drawing, and sculpture to create photographic objects. His most current work consists of handcut collages and sculptural photographic murals. I really appreciate his manipulation with his photographs and how large he works. The manipulation of the photos give a new meaning and value to the photograph that I believe the the photograph would not have recieved before the manipulation.
