The images are “just portraits of insurgents, just to give a glimpse of their side.” He said. “We aren’t covering that side at all and these asses a level to the book.” The images give the rebels a “voice and a place"
Taliban member usually have covered faces. This set of photos is unique because of the confidence shown by these men, Towell said.
As Towell spent time “driving through history” on his visit to Afghanistan, he wished for a glimpse into the past when locals might easily welcome him into their homes.
