Ellen Kooi is a Dutch photographer who works out of the Netherlands to create the vast and ethereal landscapes that are usually populated by young boys or girls. Each photograph has controlled lighting and exquisite composition. The world she has created seems to be ripped right out of a fairytale book that unfolds into a dark secret of these kids that no one is supposed to know. The panoramic ratio also adds another level of dimension as well as a feeling of being lost, but the presence of the young kids brightens up the grimness of these images.
I relate to her work because it is in the same genre of storytelling that I want to incorporate and her mix of natural and controlled lighting is a technique that I would like to master.
