Mike Shinoda is a well known
musician especially from his band Linkin Park, and his group Fort Minor. What many people do not know is that
Mike Shinoda is also an artist.
Shinoda was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and got his
degree in Bachelor of Arts in Illustration at the Art Center College of Design
at Pasadena. Looking at some of
his paintings, you can see a combination of anime and cubist styles in his
work. The characters that he
created in his paintings look like anime characters. Shinoda is part Japanese so it is interesting that he adds
his cultural art style into his own work, but makes it into his own style. His artworks look simple, abstract, and
flat, but they look original, and authentic. You will notice that in his artworks, he uses the same
style, the same opaque colors, and the same figures. His drawing however is less abstract compared to his
paintings, But it still has the same anime cartoon style as shown in his other
works.
Another thing I found interesting
on Mike Shinoda’s works is his medium choice of painting on guitars. This is something I found to be unique,
and really interesting because I see this as a fusion between his greatest
talents. This is the first time I
have seen a painting on a guitar, and I doubt that any other musician paints on
their own guitar. I see this as if
Shinoda is expressing his art through his music. Though I doubt Shinoda will ever do this because he is not a
drummer, but I would like to see him paint on a drum set.
