Outside of class my interest lies in painting. On of my
greatest inspirations is Lucian Freud.
Freud is known for his figure paintings and impasto style.
To the untrained eye his painting
might seem rather dull but in contrary there is plenty going on, for instance
his interpretation of the human flesh. Freud has developed and mastered
replicating skin tones within his paintings. His paintings show a vast variety
of colors, tones and highlights that closely resemble real life.
Another interesting aspect of
Freud’s paintings is the positioning of his figures. Whatever the reason behind
their poses, whether for the comfort of the figure or dynamic composition,
Freud presents us with fascinating images. His figures generally seem to be lying
down and have an odd appearance of sleep or possibly death.
