Jenny Seville is another British painter a lot like Lucian
Freud. Her paintings focuses on the body while dabbling with skin tones and
positioning as well. Despite her
daring subject matter I find Seville rather intriguing because of her
technique, her use of color and brush strokes are beautiful even if her figure
isn’t always. Seville pushes the boundaries beauty and grotesque with strong
use of reds and pink creating fleshy, bruised or bloody images as well as
distorting the body. Some of her paintings are the replication or study of
women pushed up against glass and the awkward positions, folds, and shapes the
body takes when place in that situation. Another common focus of her subject
matter is transgender people, men with breast or women with penis.
