Susan Crile is a professor at Hunter College, CUNY. Crile is a painter who dabbles in
blending the lines between beauty and horror. Her recent work shows us some of
the horrors, so to speak, taken from current evens. Her 9-11 series reminds us of the terror that took place in NY a little
over 10 years ago, a more recent even at the time when completed.
This
particular series of work was not completed in her traditional method of painting;
instead she used charcoal and pastel. Yet she still delivers an amazing
depiction of horrific evens past.
