The images she creates question gender roles in an almost a playful manner . Simmons constructs the women in these photos to show how they are struggling with identity, struggling with their role in society . Simmons only worked in black and white , in the eighties is when she started to experiment with color. I put a few photos up from a variety of series. Be sure to look up her website.
