Angie Restrepo submits John Bernhard
John Bernhard was born May 17, 1957, Geneva, Switzerland. He is a Swiss American artist and photographer best known for his surrealist nude studies. Rather than merely showing women’s bodies, Bernhard overlays elements of the earth through projections and worked with myths of metamorphosis as a subtext for his model photography. The resulting images include allusions to the material by which the models are absorbed or into which they disappear. He currently resides in Houston, Texas, where he continues to work.
I found inspiration for my own project while looking through his works of diptychs. After studying different photographers works I realized, seeing two images together somehow enhanced their meaning. I felt like his work of diptychs were an great example of what does work. Its really his use of repitition in an idea & a form are what really bring together his photographs conceptually.
