Guy Tillim is a South African photographer who mainly
focuses on capturing the troubled region of Sub Saharan Africa. Tillim’s work
are breath taking in that he is able to create these stories of a region by the
photos he is able to take. The photographs taken are a range of landscape,
portraits, and the environment in that area. Many of the photographs are of abandoned
areas or buildings that give a sense of a vast wasteland that is chilling to
think that its an actual place in the world today. These photographs bring recognition
to these areas that they normally would never get and it is a very powerful
statement that TIllim is able to bring out. These images are very beautiful but
also sad because these are areas where people live and have to try and survive.
Tillim is very successful in highlighting these areas and turning what most
people turn their backs on to beautiful works of art.
