REB reviews Evilsabeth Schmitz-Garcia

Evilsabeth Schmitz-Garcia Ira-Incontolable series we see young women pulling fearful, angered and horrified expressions while glass the surface is textured with fingerprints, cracks and smudges which creates a chilling and frightening atmosphere. To create these images Evilsabeth uses a scanner, then lays broken glass and sandpapered pexiglass and with this technique she tries to portray Borderline Personality Disorder. With no set  background, other than blackness, the scanner restricts the depth of field which creates the figure to appear under water or encased in a glass prison.   These images create a person’s struggle, bottling up emotions which eventually they break and shatter. Furthermore, she grabs the impression of being tapped, unable to control their own feelings and they are powerless to escape their own chaos
