Loretta Lux was originally trained as a fine arts painter but moved on to surreal child portraiture in photography. She graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts in Munich in the 90's. She was awarded the Infinity Award for Art from the International Center of Photography. She debuted at the Yosi Milo gallery in NY 2004. The images are manipulated by both photoshop and painting where she distorts the bodies and faces of these children until they look like blank slates-- almost alien-like. I thoroughly enjoy her work and feel that she helps to confirm my desire to continue working with children.
