Abigail reviews Dornith Doherty

Dornith Doherty was born in Houston, Texas and received a B.A. from Rice University in Houston and a MFA in Photography from Yale University. She lives in Southlake and is a Professor of Photography at the University of North Texas.

Dornith Doherty has been here at UTSA for an artist lecture & although I found what she had to say interesting, I believe she spoke about her current projects a bit more than her Constructed Landscapes projects, which I am interested in as well. I find that the amount of detail found in each image conveys more than a sense of atmosphere but also emotions.

To create these images she takes specimens from their natural environments and arranges landscapes with the projections of national parks where the specimens can be found. She then photographs the scene with a view camera.
