Kyle Monk by Fabiola Barragan

Kyle Monk

After meeting friend’s nephew who was suffering from cystic fibrosis he participated in a fundraising event called Great Strides, sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
He got motivated and try to help attention for this kids and decided to photograph portraits of those with CF
He creates these dark dramatic and silent pretty images that draw some attention.
CF affects the lungs and digestive system. A defective gene and the protein it creates cause the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus which clogs tha lungs, leading to life-threatening lung infections. It also obstruct the pancreas, stopping natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.
Most of the people he photographed are between the ages of 3 and 8, but also some teenagers and adults.
Aprox. 30,000 people suffer from CF in the Us. The life expectancy is less than 40 years old.
