Another of my favorite painters is Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch
post-impressionist painter. He is
most commonly know for his painting Starry Night in which he depicts the night
sky outside his bedroom window of a mental institution. Like his other paintings Starry night
uses a thick application of paint, bright colors, and plenty of movement with
harsh brushstrokes.
Quit
popular subject matter for Van Gogh include portraits and landscapes. Van Gogh’s portraits include a vast
amount of people he had encountered but curiously enough his most famous ones
are of himself. Also a common thread in his landscape paintings are cypress
trees and flowering orchards.
