Bianca Review- 09- Annie Leibovitz

Another amazing and inspiring photographer is Annie Leibovitz. I get excited everytime I see a new Disney inspired photograph that is released, but in reality she is much more then just those Disney images that are put into the weekly gossip magazines. She is a prolific photographer many memories to share. One of the first images I remember of hers was taken way before my time. The image of John Lennon and Yoko Ono on December 8, 1980, she was the last per to professionally photograph him. This iconic image was recreated by John and Yoko’s son and again my Henry Bond and Sam Taylor Wood.

Her works always seem to have a fantasy or ethereal filter on them, making even the most simple images become something of the imagination. Perhaps that’s why Disney chose her for their images, but also because she is really good at what she does. She has many pieces that have graced the covers of Rolling Stone Magazine, Vogue, Playboy, Vanity Fair, and several album covers.  Some of her other famous photographs are that of Whoopi Goldberg in a bathtub filled with Milk, the portrait of Meryl Streep, the infamous Miley Cyrus photograph, and her images of Demi Moore ( one naked and pregnant, the other naked with a painted suit). Her images inspire creativity and fantasy. In my opinion, Annie Leibovitz is one of the best portrait photographers of today.
